There’s validation, then there is validation
There have been many different ways to validate over the years. Pop-ups, post backs - some with error and success messages and some without.
With the new abilities with AJAX and Javascript libraries people are coming up with some great ways to change the old ways that we thought we were stuck with. What does it all mean? Well better User experience of course!
So what is this new fangled method you ask .. well go over to http://traineo.com/signup and go through the process. Smooth? I think so. No post backs that a user has to worry about, no ugly pop-ups or untimely error messages. Hey, they even tell you when you have fixed the error real time.
For a while I have been wondering how I could implement this in sites I build, and at last, I found a great .js ot make it happen. Go on over to : http://tetlaw.id.au/view/javascript/really-easy-field-validation and check it out. Real time input validation.
Its informative, usable and just a nicer UX all round.
